PALMERSTON CLINCH DOUBLE LEAGUE TITLE SUCCESS
Palmerston Tennis Club's Mens and Ladies Teams clinched a memorable double for 2008 by landing both the Mens and Ladies A Division League titles this week.
The Mens side rounded of their season by completing a second win this season over close rivals Vagabonds with a 3-2 away success despite a heavily depleted team to finish clear over close rivals Blundellsands who had the consolation of being the only side to defeat Palmerston.
Neal Skupski finished the season undefeated with important contributions during the campaign also coming from captain Danny Swain plus Martin Dalton,Marc Black,Ian Hartley,Andy Pang,Kevin Lewis and Si Bumford
.
The Ladies' campaign was decided on a nailbiting last night of drama with Ann Paramo's Liverpool Cricket Club side going into their final encounter against Mersey Bowmen needing a point for the title. However the Sefton Park side pulled off a 4-2 success to allow Alison Wolfe's Palmerston side to become champions after a 4-1 defeat of third placed East Wavertree.
The Elm Hall Drive outfit, despite missing Kathy McKnight for the season through maternal commitments enjoyed a solid campaign with the regular squad being completed by Steph Rock,Lynsey Byrne,Chloe Barr,Sarah Roberts,Chris Downey,Liz Clark and Jenna Webster
