NORTH V SOUTH JUNIOR CHALLENGE ENDS IN NAILBITER
A special 14 a side junior challenge match between teams from the North and South of Liverpool held at Palmerston Tennis Club on May Bank Holiday ended with the result hinging on the final doubles rubber with the score tied at 17 matches each. Gary Schneider and Adam Harper secured victory for the North side with a 6-2 success over Alex Dodgshon and Alex Evans.
The North side (top picture) drawn mainly from players from the programme at Trinity Tennis Club started off slowly but gained momentum with Kim Leggett, Chris Thompson and Adam Harper all undefeated. At the top of the order however the South (bottom picture) prevailed with numbers 1 and 2 Alex Dodgshon and Sam Doyle winning both singles rubbers against counterparts Gary Schneider and James Hamill. Michael McCarroll and Louis Robles both scored two singles wins for the south.
All 28 singles matches counted towards the Liverpool Junior Singles rankings
